500GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive $109

Is your hard drive nearing capacity? The easy is solution is to simply add a external high capacity hard drive to your computer. These external hard drives are also what I use to backup my photos (every photo is stored on 2 separate external hard drives for redundancy.) I used to backup photos to CD-R, then DVD-R, now I just backup to an external hard drive. External hard drives for backup are less expensive per GB and much more convenient than burning DVDs. eCost is running a killer deal on the Western Digital 500GB external USB 2.0 hard drives for $109 each:

This is extremely important! I have two internal 250G drives that I use to mirror between the two. You can never have enough backups!! If anyone out there does not make a backup of your pictures onto some kind of separate media, I would highly recommend doing so. Hardware can fail, and often does at the worst time. Those photographic memories are important.

Swimlappy: I 100% agree. You also must backup to 2 separate destinations - backups fail too. Backing-up your photos, backup options and 'refreshing' your backups every X years are all important topics(those old CD's and DVD backups in your closet will corrupt eventually.)

Exactly! Multiple backups, to multiple locations. I just archived all of my photos to new DVD's. Those should be good for a few years.

Cannot stress this enough people.
